It's time to read a story all about the year 2020, but first, you must find out how I made this and why I had to make my own book, it all began in literacy where our teacher showed us a book she made about the things that happened this year, and also did things that we have or will be doing this year after that we then had to go on google docs and write about 13 paragraphs for our story, and they had to have rhymes once we did all of that we then had to have checked off by a teacher and if thy said it was fine then we could start making our book.

Tessellation what could it mean👀

Today I will be sharing with you all something known as Tessellation which is a shape, there are three types of shapes that can be Tesselation and they are the square, triangle, and the hexagon and there these three rules are needed number 1 is Translation, 2 rotation, and 3 glide reflection then I was set the task to make a tessellation using 2 shapes but I used 3 shapes after that we had to color the shapes and I won't tell what shapes there are you'll need to find that out you're self.

Traditions and Heritage what a magical word

Previously I Blog the poster known as the Hangi it's about time, but now we talk about traditions and heritage let's begin first, we needed to make a slide or video maker thing to present this to you and we had to do these three different subjects all Maori related there's  Haka, Korowai and the to mako and we had to add all of these into one slide and had to show you how the past and now have changed.

The Hangi it's about time

Let's have a talk about the Hangi and how it's changed over time, first I will tell you what a Hangi is on my poster, we have been looking at Maori culture and first, we were doing this on the Hangi and we had to learn about how the Hangi was made before and how you can now make it, then I had to make a poster or an animation and I went with the poster because then it won't take me so long to make, after that I then had to tell how to make the Hangi like they use too and how technology has changed the way it's cooked.

The Guilt of murder

On Wednesday we have been learning all about guilt and you should know what guilt is, our task was to first make either a video or animation about someone who did the wrong thing feeling guilty, then we had got into a group of 3-4, the members in my group are Billy and Brock me and my group decided that our story should be based on among us because someone cane be the imposter and then feel guilty.

Escape from wildcat canyon the storyboard

I am back to blog but this blog post won't be good as you can see my pdf isn't that good but the reading part is fine, What we did was we were doing this thing call man vs nature, self, and man basically like survival, next we then had to make slides all about this and started reading pdfs about man vs nature, when we were all finished with that we then got to watch a movie called escape from wildcat canyon a movie where a boy named Pete and grandpa that have to survive the wild when their plane crashed, after that, we then got to make storyboards on these type of subjects of man vs nature Hatchet, Escape from the wildcat canyon here my not so good dlo.

Sign language

We have been doing sigh language but in NZ because it's New Zealand sign language week yay, Let's begin first we had to watch a video showing us the alphabet but in sign language and when that was finished we then needed to play a came called sign ninja were we had to face challenges but had to understand sign language, when we were finished with that we then had to make video and had to spell out our name but in sign language and just so you know my video is that good.

The Crystal Wars

We have been growing crstals and we had to see which one of these crystal types would grow faster!!!, first we needed these materials to grow three diffrent types of crystals like salt, sugar and borax and yes each one of these can grow crystals for example if you did hot water sugar you would get a sugar crystal and that goes for all the other type of crystals when we did this expermint we had to make a scientific report but we got to make it for ourselves and got to work in a group of five, after that we then got to make our own notes showing the science behind why crystals grow in salt,sugar and borax.

Final blast off rockets!!

 Hey Blogger!!

Today I shall be telling you all about the final rocket blast off we did let's begin. What we did was we first wrote our team names on a whiteboard so then we could see which rocket went the furthest, just so you know our team name is masa on the day Tuesday 7th, 2020 our rocket ambassadors came in their names where Variety, Carl and Gaven and that's when we started our rocket launches when our rocket launched part of the fin broke off or maybe more bur ours went a good distance while we were launching our rockets we also were doing a video on them so that we can show, you how far our rockets went and just so you know our rocket video isn't that good mainly because you can't see part of the rocket launch but you can see it falling down to the earth.

The great solute

Do you know what a solute is well it means dissolvable substances, for literacy we have been working on a new experiment on substances that can resolve in liquids such as sugar, salt, and many more, first we had to our experiment after that we then needed to make a science report based on the experiment after that we had the choice of how we could present our scientific report and we could also work in a pair, my video will tell you the rest.

The great salt

For writing, we have been learning about salt melting ice, but we added even more by adding other dry substances like sugar, citric acid, and more first we had to have a wondering and a hypothesis then we worked on our materials and variables and basically, the rest will be on the slide, we had to do this on an adobe spark and make a website but the internet was giving me a hard time so I did mine on a google slide.

Win or loose

For literacy, we have been learning about probability and it's really easy, first, we had to do a carnival game where you flip a coin and if it lands on a line you lose money but if it doesn't you earn 10$ we had to do this in a pair but I  worked alone because there were no other people to join but I found out that it's easier doing a task alone sometimes, here is a photo of what we were doing.

The good and bad wolf

 Hi Bloggers!!

We have been learning more about wolves and how they made France angry and the Yellowstone people happy also here is all my writing from my slide about How wolves defected France and Yellowstone, n Yellowstone when wolves were eradicated from Yellowstone the deer started to eat all the plants making it a barren wasteland, then when the wolves were reintroduced they started a trophic cascade they changed the rivers and the ecosystem by controlling the population of herbivores and then other animals started to appear.

In France the wolves were feared by the population they imagined bloodthirsty demons killing everything in their path, they started to kill the sheep and this made farmers angry and then they were almost killed to extinction, then they reappear high up in the mountains where they came from Spain and then populated France.

I think of wolves being the gods who control the ecosystem, and sometimes the demons who terrorize the lands by killing mammals, but if you get to know them more you can understand that there not always the demons you think of in your mind, instead you can know that they help the ecosystem and keep it in a secure balance.

Save the oceans

For Wednesday we have been learning about coding and what we had to do was we needed to code our own global problem not on scratch but on a website called codster and it's basically coding from scratch but a whole new level and a little harder, but apparently it's illegal to share our code with you so what we did was we took screenshots and put them on a slide the slide will tell you all about what my code is trying to show and I hope you understand it.

Yellowstone in Minecraft!

Today you learn all about Yellowstone National Park with wolves and without them but in Minecraft education edition!! What we did was that we were learning about the wolves and how they changed a place known as Yellowstone National Park and we found out that when wolves weren't in Yellowstone National Park, once they told us this we then went on Minecraft and had to make Yellowstone with no wolves and with wolves after that we then had to make a screencastify.

The great war of Soda and Mentos

Hi Bloggers!!! Today your device will explode with fascination!! So for literacy, we have been learning about why mentos react with Carbonated drinks and wow it was hard, after that, we had to do a create on this we also had a test on some other different carbonated drinks to see if mentos would react with them too, after that we made a slide show and made a scientific report about the science behind mentos a soda diet soda once finished with that we then had to blog it. The great oil disaster!!

Today I will be showing you everything about oil and if you don't know, oil is in and around our world, even in places you wouldn’t imagine. We use oil for cooking but we also use crude oil. The pumping and transporting of crude oil around the globe often have environmental effects. We have looked at various texts and videos to learn about some of these effects, and it ‘good’ timing as there was a recent oil spill (24 July 2020) in Mauritius that we could investigate.

NASA's fastest parachute

 Hey Bloggers!!

Today well last week we were learning to make our own parachute!! For inquiry, we have been learning about rockets but this time parachutes, first we needed to get in a group of three the members in my group were Billy, Kadyn and me Jordan after that we had to make our parachute we had the fabric, string, and hex nuts, our parachute was the shape of rectangle and we decided to write NASA on it since our inquiry is based on rockets, we then had to test them and had to make sure it goes into the circle our's did go in the circle but it went down very fast.

War of the icecubes

Today for class we have been learning about ice melting you know like ice when it melts, what we did was we made an experiment show us which liquid would melt ice faster I thought that saltwater would melt ice faster because salt melts ice really fast, so we did one more experiment to see if saltwater and freshwater to see which would melt it faster here is my video to show you my slide!!

Angry birds space time

Today I will be showcasing my space slide or animation teaching you about why astronauts or rockets use velcro in space? And once I was finished with that I made an animation that has birds from the angry bird's movie mostly chuck, red and bomb but I changed their names, for inquiry, we have been doing a tik take toe about space or we could've chosen something else but I choose to make an animation about why velcro is used in space, once I was finished with that I then had to blog and make sure you enjoy!!

Maths time/ rule bot

Today for maths we have been learning all about algebra but today we were doing input/output instead, what we did was we got into a pair of two and had to make an animation that shows you an input/output machine which would be our robots after that we needed to makeup or own rules and had to make sure you would have to find out what the rule is, our slide is about describing spatial and number patterns using rules that involve spatial features.

The Spirit festival of the sky

Guys!! Have you heard of the southern or northern lights or the aurora? well then here is my art of the aurora and I will be telling you what it is, the aurora can be found only in the north or south poles this phenomenon is caused by the sun when it releases a huge amount of energy called the solar wind, the solar wind can be devastating in fact solar wind is the reason for mars loss of life but our planet is protected by the earth magnetic field which is powered by the core of the earth which is molten metal spinning so fast that it makes the magnetic field, sometimes the energy from the solar wind can get in the magnetic and makes particles in our atmosphere get excited and that's how they make the color and the cycle of the aurora.

Maths time/ Patterns

Hey Bloggers!!

Hello, everyone, Maths time is back and we're learning about patterns eg Algebra it's about patterns and it means change, what we did was we had a play around with some cubes we needed to make a pattern and by a pattern I mean a shape getting bigger and bigger, after that, we went on the slide and we needed to find out the rule about the shape like for example I have 2 x 1 which = 2 but then + 1 it makes 3 so the answer for number one would be 3 and the rule would be x2 +1.

Masters of Noise

When reading a book, have you ever been curious about something you were reading, and wanted to find out more to help you understand what you were reading better?  We have been learning about how important this is this week in Literacy.

When we read The Magic School Bus inside the human body’ I formed some advanced questions using ‘how’ and ‘why’.  I made sure they were open-ended questions that would help me understand the book more.  An example of one of my questions was “Why are intestines coiled up?’ and I then researched and found out that an adult's intestine is 7.5m long, so it needs to coil up so that it fits in the body.

Next, we got to chose our own book to read out of our virtual library and we had to form 3 advanced questions about it.  Ours create task this week was to share these in a creative way.  I chose to do it with Renderforest and it was about a book called ‘cicada

I really enjoyed this task as it made me realize how important it is to do this when reading to understand the text better.

The Maths bot

Watch out thiers a maths robot that will teach you about angles, this is my robot what we did was we needed to make a robot and it had to have all the angles and we needed to have 8 of them, the types of angles are Obtuse angles higher than 90, acute angles lower than 90, strait angles 180, right angles 90 and reflex angles but we couldn't have straight angles.

Secret code - ASCII

Today we are learning about Binary and ASCII. 

Binary is a number system that uses 1’s and 0’s to represent all of our normal set of numbers.  You can use the place values as multiples of 2 to work out how to do it for yourself!  Try watching this video to give it a go yourself!

ASCII is a set of encoded symbols that a computer uses to turn Binary into letters and other symbols from the English language (like what is on our keyboard).  I turned my initials into binary numbers, and then turned those binary numbers into an ASCII code!  Using colors to represent the 1’s and 0’s, my initials in ASCII can be represented by the pattern you see in my image below!

Can you see what I see there trying to hide the destruction of pollution, what we did was we had to look at these pictures witch is are made from people we had to be in a group of three and needed to write something that would say what this is about, the teacher would tell us when to swap and write about the picture again and again after that we needed to blog it and write our own description about it.

 

I think that this picture is about how people are trying to hide away the pollution and adding windows that look like they may have been what use to be there, but it would be impossible to hide away all the pollution because it’s everywhere and only we can deal with it.

The flower of life or O le fugalaʻau o le ola

This is my Samoan Siapo art or cloth it is one of the oldest and most important traditions of Samoa is the Siapo or Tapa.  It is a type of cloth made from the bark of the mulberry tree.  It is very time-consuming because the bark must be harvested, stripped, separated, scraped, and beaten before it can be used.  It is then laid out in the sun to dry.

The artist uses natural dyes, created from items such as berries, bark, and nuts to make patterns on the cloth.  

There are 13 traditional patterns used on siapo that represent things common to Samoan culture such as nets, coconut leaves, shells and flowers. Have you ever made one of these before? Then please comment down below and I will reply back to you soon bye.

The Koru of souls

The castle of pathways!!

Watch out thiers wolf on the loose and his claimed two lives, This is my story pathway it was on the three little pigs but written by Roald Dahl if you have seen this you know how it ends but if you haven't then this will tell some of the things that are in the book, what we did was we had to make our own story path we needed to have 5 things like Background, falling action and more once we've finished this we then had to make a castle and then had to blog it.

It's so hot!!

For numeracy, we have started to learn about angles.

We learned about 3 different angles today - acute (less than 90°), right angle (90°), and obtuse (larger than 90° but smaller than 180°).  We also learned how to use a protractor to measure angles.  We know that we need to measure an angle from a vertice (a corner where two straight lines meet).

For our create a task, we had to measure three different angles on the first letter of our name - can you figure out if they are acute, right angle, or obtuse?

Family koru art

This is my koru design made out of play-dough, I did three designs and had to make each one out of play after that I then had to show it to the teachers, after that I had to choose only one of my koru designs to make and I choose this one the four korus represent my family like my mom, dad, brother and me.

As you know I used play dough it was hard to make the shape of each koru but it all worked out. This design is the one that I'm going to use to make my nickels and once it's finished I will have a big smile. Have you ever made one of these? Climate nightmare

Climate change it's real it's serious and only we can solve it this is my global problems slide, we first had to make a word art and we had to add global problems in it we needed to make the word art look like a global problem, on the next day we had to make a slide and put our word art in it after that we needed to have at least 4-5 videos but I only have four for the videos we also had to take notes of every video we did but we first had to choose only one global problem and have videos about what those problems are and I did my slide on Climate change.

For my videos, I choose four types that are part of climate change like fossil fuels, global warming, climate change  and warming oceans and I found these videos on youtube. This week for literacy we have been learning about inferencing and show not tell.  When we read something, we automatically start making inferences, so it is important when we write that we give clues in our writing that allow people to make inferences. We want to show them - not tell them.

For example, Paul was frustrated when he got to the bus stop and realized he had just missed the bus.  But instead, I could write “Running as fast as he could, Paul turned the corner only to see the back of the bus as it pulled away.  Throwing his bag down on the ground and sighing out loud, Paul realized that he had no choice, but to sit and wait for the next bus to arrive - 20 minutes from now”  You can infer from me saying ‘throwing his bag down and sighing out loud’ that he is frustrated.


Our task was to create a video that accompanied a piece of writing about an elderly man.  We used Adobe Spark to do this.

For numeracy this week, we have been learning about grid references and we have been working on 4 and 6 digit grid references.

We learned that we read across the bottom of the grid first (Eastlings) and then up the side second (Northlings).  

Our task today was to look at an aerial map of our school, write down the 6 digit grid references for the letters that our teacher had put on it, and then go in hunt of those points.  At each point there was 1 or 2 letters.  Once we had them all, we had to come back into the hub and unscramble the letters to figure out what it spelt.  The secret sentence was ‘Happy Birthday Zoe’ and we came fourth in the race yay.

I really enjoyed the task.  Have you ever had to use grid references before in real life?  What was it for?

The Cranky family show

This week we have been looking carefully at making inferences when we read or watch something. 

An inference is when we take clues from a text or image, and add them to our thoughts or prior knowledge and make an inference. 

For example,  when I look at this photo, I might make the inference that
this photo was taken in a food factory as everyone is wearing hair
nets and this is required in all food factories.

The text that we read a snippet out of was ‘The Twits’ by Roald Dahl.

Once we had read the first few chapters where they described the main characters, Mr. and Mrs. Twit, we then had to make some inferences based on the clues that Roald Dahl had given in the text.

I used Google Draw to create a display of my inferences I have made about Mr. and Mrs. Twit.

Tommy bee maths!!

For Numeracy this week we have been looking at compass directions.  We have worked on reading maps using the 8 main directions - North, South, East, West, North-East, South-East, North-West and South-West and then we moved onto using Beebots and our knowledge of compass directions to get a Beebot through the grid to various locations I had to fix some problems but It works now.

We had to program the Beebot with our own algorithm, using forwards, backward, turn right, turn left and N, S, E, W.  It was important that we regularly tested our algorithm to check we didn’t need to debug (find a problem and fix it).

The wild

This is my weird-looking tiger as you can see it has stripes and it is round, this is a Friday task called Rollin wild you probably have seen the videos now I am going to be telling you all the part and what can or can't this animal do, This tiger has a round body covered in strip It has a long tail with no stripes my tiger has chubby legs the tiger would have a hard time hunting for food if it was round and wouldn't be able to drink water but my tiger would be able to land on it back instead of legs.

Yes, I know what you're thinking it is weird but I still like and this took a while to make I very glad it's good and not an egg. I used Sketchpad to make this drawing it's a website where you can get stamps or make shapes it can be hard though coloring things. Have you seen or draw something from the video rolling wild? Maths attack

For maths, we have been learning about volume and capacity volume mean how much space an object takes up and capacity means the total amount of liquid in an object so their both different things, So the first thing I did was volume what we did was we measured the length, height and the width of an object form our house and then we add up measurements until we get the answer, for capacity all we did was we got around an object that can hold liquid like a bottle or a bucket when we measure volume we would put 3 at the end of the measurement the three means cube if we did capacity we would use milliliters or ml for short.

I am proud of what I have done I now understand what capacity is and volume I got confused at first but now I understand alot. For my object to measure I used my crystal growing box which still hasn't been used. Have you done volume vs capacity? then please comment down below and I will respond when I have time bye.

Literacy - Beware of the bio video

This is a bio video on Roald dahl for literacy we were doing a biography on Roald Dahl we had some choices of how to make our biographies like a video, poster or a website when we choose the one we wanted, we then had to add facts about Roald Dahl and they had to be true we had to have one image of him but I have two and we had to include, at least 1 quote from the book going solo and then we added why you should read going solo.

This was my first time doing a bio video I think, but I am proud of what I have made and achieved. The website I used making this video is render forest because you can add more words in it then Biteable. Have you ever done a biography on one of Roald dahls books? Roald Dahls - great survival

I have an amazing animation for you let's get started in literacy we have been reading a book called going solo by the one and only Roald Dahl, the chapter we have been reading is called survival were he crashed a plane he survived but he did have really bad injuries. He went to South Africa for the shell company and of course his many adventures to come like the planes, In the first chapter of the book it was funny and weird, and then out of nowhere came an officer who made him join the RAF to fly in WW2!!!!!.

I have recreated the part of when he crashed the plane in animation I could've made a comic but animations are easier. have you read the chapter survival of going solo by Roald Dahl? The please feel welcomed to comment whenever you like bye.

Goats In the City!!!!

Have you seen goats in the city? Well, 5 goats have been spotted in the city of  Llandudno the goats were mountain goats which are supposed to be on the mountains but came into the city in lockdown, this is my video that I made about the goats in the city so enjoy.

I did have some words that don't make science but I did fix all of that so it's all good. I made this video using Biteable a website where you can make videos. Have you seen any animals in the city? Then please type a comment down below and I will hopefully respond soon.

The crazy city

This numeracy work yay this is my city that I made using the area as you can see I have a fire station and police on too I also have a church, 4 sky scrappers and more on each building there will be numbers to show you the area of that building and I had to make sure I put them in the right places.

The tall buildings were hard to do mostly because I didn't have space to put the text box and also because they needed to be 4m2 and I didn't have much space but I did well after that. I used google slides to do this Mrs Osborn made this slide called the accountability slide witch is cool. have you made you own city using the area? Then please leave a comment before you go.

What lies in the darkness

Have you ever heard of the black mamba? well then come and have a look on this slide were you will learn about this snake, if you are afraid of snakes then I am guessing you won't be looking on this slide but trust me you may soon like snakes for those of you that do like snakes I'm guessing you will be looking on this slide to learn about this snake. This was literacy work and we were reading a chapter book called going solo the chapter with the black mamba was chapter 2 I think, so we had some choices of what we could number one was I could do report number two I could do animation and number three where I could do a drawing but I choose number one the report.

It was hard for me to find the information and also to find websites I can trust but I hope this is all true and not fake at all. I didn't get this information from any websites except for one but I don't remember what the website was called. Have you seen or done an information report on the black mamba? The sea tiger

Today I have been doing a lot of things like this art piece which is mine. The task was about making up an animal by drawing what you want and then we had to name it, but I just drew an animal that does exist called the tiger shark and it doesn't look like this one in real life I didn't draw this by myself I did this by watching a how-to video of making a great white but I changed the shark into a tiger.

I would try and change this into something like a loch ness monster or squid but I feel happy for what I've done and I hope you guys like this piece of art too. To make this I used paper, a pencil, coloring pencils a rubber and a how-to-draw video and that's how I made this. My war diary!!

This is my war diary entry It's a little gruesome so you've' been warned anyways what I did is simple all I did is I put some of the yesterdays work in this because that's what we're meant to do it's not that good but hope you guys will like besides the blood parts so yeah.

It's the second day and everything has been a nightmare I would barely see the sun as the smoke covers it up everything was dark, all we could see where the dead bodies lying flat on the ground blood would come out moving like a river we, there would be planes dropping bombs soldiers would be shouting out “FIRE” when a bomb landed next to us dirt came flying into our mouths we would almost swallow it. I came here thinking it would be fun but I was wrong we risked our lives for this we left our families for this, I could smell gunpowder polluting the air I could see birds on the dead trees it looked like they were singing but you could barely hear them there were a lot of gunshots I wondered “when will this end” but I thought this was soon to end and I will be fine.

Life in the bubble!!!

hope you're having a good day this is my slide about my life in a bubble what we had to do was that we wrote a diary of our own that you can read on the next slide if you want, but on the last slide is the photos of my family and other stuff and they are all shaped as a circle which represents a bubble its things that are in my bubble and yeah.

My home school - work Schedule
